West Virginia - Flea Markets (All about flea markets)
| Questions: How long will I go to jail? I was charged with a misdemeanor for Recieving and Transferring stolen property. 1st time offense for anything and I honestly didn't know they were stolen. I bought them off a guy I met at a flea market. Got his 1st name and thats all now police can't track this guy down. Any advice. The estimated value of the item was $900 and in West Virginia anything $1000 and under is a misdemeanor Honestly I bought the items off a guy I met at a flea market. Second I sold it to a guy that I trade with. Well they sold it to someone else and some how the police got involved. I still haven't figured that one out yet. Well they trace it back to me and I tell them I sold it. They ask where I got it and I told them where I bought it and gave them the guys first name because thats all I knew. Now the guy is now where to be found. I have hired a private investigator. Honestly I never knew they was stolen. I have a little more pride in myself than to fool with this stuff. I've never been in any trouble at all and this is my 1st offense for anything. I serve in the Military and work for the Government so I wouldn't be stupid enough to do this on purpose. But thanks for the anwsers. |
| "Flea Market Risks"
You keep saying you met the guy at a flea market, not that you bought the stuff at a flea market... is there a difference? How can you protect yourself from buying stolen goods at a flea market? Any tips? Advice? |
| Hi to all. I would like to know more about the flea markets in West Virginia. I am about to go there fro my work and so it is important if I go find the best flea markets in the said plane. If you can share here any good information and any contacts then that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot and have a great day ahead to all. |
| Well if the police have evidence that you had brought it and they have traced back to you; and they cant find the original guy who sold you; you are at risk. Your story is very simple and I don't think so that the court will believe it easily; plus do you have any evidence that you have brought it from this fellow plus any witness or anything. The chances look very slim in your case. |
| The best thing for you to do is to get a good lawyer to defend you. If you are really telling the truth, then your lawyer can help you bring it out in the open and convince the judge that you are innocent. Still, if the person who sold you the stolen items is nowhere to be found, I agree that you are at risk. You should learn from this experience and try not to be fooled again. |
| This is so sad. I think next time you really have to be very careful in buying something from the flea market. You just have to prove that you are innocent so that you won't be put in jail I know this is disgusting, but you should learn from it. Learn not to trust anyone else you don't know yet and bear in mind not to get enticed by the price price of items in the flea markets. |
